								<description>University Park, Pennsylvania,  Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Plant Biology POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of Biology at Penn State, University Park campus, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of  Assistant or Associate Professor. The search is open to any area of plant biology, an area of strength in our department and across Penn State. Successful candidates may work at any level of organization, from the molecular to the ecosystem level. Innovation in cutting-edge research approaches, including, but not limited to, cell and molecular biology, physiology, omics, bioinformatics, and fundamental research relevant to pressing societal challenges, is a key criterion. The successful applicant is expected to develop and/or maintain an independent, externally funded, and internationally recognized research program, leading to groundbreaking advances in their field; to provide excellent, innovative instruction to undergraduate and graduate students in the life sciences; and to contribute active service to the department, college, university, professional community, and the public. Competitive applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor will possess a Ph.D. in biology, plant biology, or a related field before beginning employment at Penn State; will demonstrate potential for developing an externally funded and collaborative research program; and will demonstrate the potential to contribute to the Department&#39;s and College&#39;s teaching and service missions. Candidates seeking the rank of Associate Professor should have the same qualifications as the assistant professor, as well as a strong track record of scholarly achievement, external funding, and demonstrated success in teaching and service. Penn State&#39;s University Park Campus brings together a vast array of researchers presenting exceptional opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations. The Huck Institutes of the Life Sciences serve as a hub for life sciences research at Penn State, bringing together scientists from across the University to address fundamental questions and societal challenges. The Huck Institutes supports Centers and Institutes, including the Plant Institute; graduate programs, including the Interdisciplinary Graduate Degree Program in Plant Biology; and manages shared and core facilities with instrumentation and expertise in genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and other technologies. The ideal candidate will have research experience in one or more of the following areas: clinical and translational sciences, precision medicine, genotype/phenotype discovery, medication outcome phenotyping, therapeutic biomedical engineering, health care implementation science, data science (pharmacoanalytics), toxicology, or pharmacovigilance. The incumbent is expected to complement or actively contribute to the Pittsburgh Pharmacogenomics (PittPGx) program and Pharmacogenomics Center of Excellence, as well as develop meaningful collaborations with other researchers within the School of Pharmacy, Schools of Health Sciences, and external organizations. 
 As a faculty member, the Candidate will be committed to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. This is an on campus, full-time 12-month position. The Department is housed in the School of Pharmacy, one of the six Schools of Health Sciences. The school offers a professional Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree, and post-professional fellowship and graduate degree programs (M.S. and Ph.D.). The Pharm.D. and Ph.D. degree programs are delivered as non-virtual programs. Some Masters programs are virtual or hybrid. 
 Responsibilities for faculty position include: &#xa0; &#8226; The successful applicant is expected to establish an independent, competitively funded research program. &#xa0; &#8226; Develop a successful track record of scholarship, which includes peer-reviewed publications and competitive grantsmanship related to pharmacogenomics, precision medicine, or other focus area as outlined above. &#xa0; &#8226; Provide mentorship and teaching of students, fellows, and other trainees. &#xa0; &#8226; Service on committees relevant to the teaching, research, and service missions of the Department, School, and University.

 &#xa0; The Department of Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is recruiting Clinical Laboratory Geneticists as the Assistant/Associate Laboratory Director at the UPMC Cytogenetics Laboratories, at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Professor in the Appointment Stream. The primary responsibility will include analysis and interpretation of results, preparation and reviewing of final test reports, and reporting of karyotyping, FISH, microarray, and OGM analysis in oncological, prenatal, and postnatal specimens. 
 The Assistant/Associate Laboratory Director will assist the Medical Director in the overall direction, supervision, and administration of the operations related to specimen handling, testing, and reporting in an accurate, proficient, and expedient manner while ensuring client and patient confidentiality. Working in an academic laboratory with state-of-the-art testing technologies, the candidate will be expected to develop and validate in-house assays for applications in oncology and other areas of clinical relevance. Other responsibilities include helping in the maintenance of standard operating procedure manuals, and quality control practices, and directing cytogenetics technical staff in the performance of proficiency testing programs as required by the regulatory and licensing agencies (CLIA, CAP).&#xa0; 
 The Assistant/Associate Laboratory Director will closely interact within the Division of Molecular &#38; Genomic Pathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and will participate in the education of Pathology and OB/GYN residents/fellows, as well as training of LGG fellows through the ACGME-accredited program. Innovation is an important part of our activities, and we expect that the candidate will participate in publishing, collaborating, and developing new tests. Departmental and institutional support is available for teaching and research activities.
