Water Resource Information Bureau Chief
The SJRWMD is recruiting for the Chief of the Bureau of Water Resource Information. This is a senior management position responsible for the management of 70 staff, and the acquisition, quality assurance and institutionalization of water quality, hydrology, meteorology, hydrogeological and biological data. The Chief is responsible for developing and managing a budget exceeding $10M. The Chief is also responsible for numerous interagency agreements and contracts. This position requires the ability to coordinate on water supply planning, water quality impairment issues, drought and emergency response. The Chief is expected to provide the monthly Hydrologic Conditions Report to the Governing Board. In addition, the Chief is responsible for managing the operations of the District’s water quality laboratory and implementing the District’s well drilling and abandonment program.
This is a position of strategic leadership within the District. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in written and oral communication, experience in effective supervision, mentoring and leadership, advanced data management, distribution and analysis experience, budget development and management and knowledge of Florida’s aquatic resources.
Minimum Qualifications
A master's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science, or a related field with an emphasis on environmental science, and five years of professional experience in natural resource management, two of which must have been in a supervisor capacity.
A doctorate from an accredited college or university in biology, limnology, chemistry, ecology, environmental science or a related field with an emphasis on environmental science may substitute for one year of the non-supervisory experience.
Professional experience in environmental protection or research can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
This position is located in our Palatka office, however there may be some flexibility in locating the position in one of our Service Centers. This position is eligible for limited telework.
