Job Summary: Develop and successfully lead projects to accomplish company and department goals for safety, operability and growth while ensuring project schedule, scope, quality, and cost are achieved and resources managed. Provides support to Manufacturing where subject matter expertise is needed.
Essential Job Functions:
Project Management – Manage small to medium capital and expense projects (typically <$1MM) related to upgrade and improvement of plant operations. Familiar with AutoCAD, and able to update field marked up drawings. Maintain and update maintenance and equipment files. When necessary, perform Kalsec Job Supervisor (KJS) duties in management of non-Kalsec/contract personnel.
Equipment Design – Quickly and efficiently size and specify, new or replacement plant equipment, including: Pumps, Piping Systems, Heat Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, Conveyors, and Packaging Equipment.
Process Design – Generate P&IDs, Layout Drawings, Isometrics, and Equipment Specifications for new and retrofitted piping and equipment.
PSM – Support Mechanical Integrity program development and implementation by ensuring design aspects and associated QA/QC policies are established, documented, and enforced through project scope, procurement, and installation activities. Develop and/or provide input to engineering/technical standards. Provide support as a PHA/HAZOP team member as necessary to provide subject matter expertise and/or review of project scope. Address PHA/HAZOP generated recommendations. Review/markup P&IDs. Gather info and calculations necessary for Process Safety Information library. Follow established management of change (MOC) and PSSR practices.
Safety Devices – Evaluate upset scenarios and size safety devices, including: Rupture Discs, Relief Valves, Conservation Vents, and Flame Arrestors.
Troubleshooting – Assist plant in troubleshooting processing issues. Evaluate new materials, equipment, and/or manufacturing methods.
Problem Solver – Resolve technical issues with practical, robust, and cost-effective solutions. Sift through conflicting information to arrive at logical conclusions. Generate improvement ideas, based on available data.
Food Industry Experience – Familiar with SQF, HACCP, and GMP practices. Familiar with Sanitary A3 Design methods and Equipment Sanitation requirements, to keep equipment and processes safe.
