The Quality Assurance Engineer position is a hands-on professional responsible for performing a wide variety of Supplier and Quality Assurance (QA) technical work which requires extensive application of QA engineering principles and concepts in support of manufacturing operations. Job activities involve collaborating across EVC sites, suppliers, departments and monitoring the movement of materials throughout the organization process; this can include working with internal departments and suppliers to resolve material discrepancies, ensuring material standards are met and non-conformances or variances are approved and/or minimized. The Quality Assurance Engineer evaluates supplier performance and reliability and works with Procurement to develop new supply sources where competition doesn’t currently exist. The role requires an ability to build positive relationships with key suppliers while leveraging these relationships to improve supplier quality, delivery, costs, and service. The Quality Assurance Engineer assists in maintaining the organization’s Quality Management System through engagement of process documentation, corrective and preventive action, data collection, statistical analysis, and product and process evaluations. This individual will help lead and promote use of formal problem-solving methodology and lead efforts to reduce cost of poor quality. Ultimately, the Quality Engineer will work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager to exceed all Quality Objectives and Goals for the company.
Manage quality practices and process documentation while driving continuous improvement .
Lead problem resolution efforts while working directly with SMEs in various departments.
Work directly with Engineering during product Design and Development to increase product
Facilitate quarantine of nonconforming product when discovered.
Lead MRB meetings to disposition nonconforming product and materials.
Perform statistical analysis of product inspection and test data to mitigate trends as they are identified.
Facilitate root cause analysis, corrective action and preventive action of CARs.
Ensure product containment and return/ replacement of nonconforming product.
Read, analyze, and interpret technical data, such as but not limited to, contracts, statements of work and engineering drawings.
Apply Six Sigma methodology to inspection and test data in support of product reliability/ maintainability, improved effectiveness of the product design/build/inspection process and overall support of the Quality Management System.
Perform professional technical assignments requiring the full use and wide application of established Quality Engineering principles, theories, and concepts.
Evaluate and improve supplier quality performance by managing supplier quality system, working with Procurement and suppliers to identify opportunities for improvement.
Provide QE support as needed for supplier scorecard and responsiveness ratings.
Manage the Supplier Corrective Action process. Responsible for issuing, tracking and reviewing all supplier corrective actions as a result of an NC or defect. Helps identify and assess what the root cause may be and participates as required.
Represent Quality and suppliers during design and requirements reviews and Configuration Control Board.
Evaluate the capability of major subcontractors and suppliers, and work, in conjunction with Program, Engineering, Procurement and Subcontract personnel, to maintain continuity in the delivery of products that meet Engineering and Production needs in time phased plan.
Conduct quality assessments and surveys with suppliers, both on site and remote. Review and approve supplier’s acceptance and qualification test plans and procedures and assists with supplier evaluation and selection.
Participate in various type of product development reviews and audits.
Work with internal teams to increase customer satisfaction by improving the quality of products.
Use and understand statistical formulas to calculate MTTR, MTTF and MTBF during product testing.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related BS Technical Degree.
Minimum of eight (8) years of manufacturing and quality experience.
Self-starter, requiring little supervision, and able to drive projects to completion.
Must have strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate issues, impacts, and corrective actions.
Experience in 8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause analyses, Cause and Effect, and Corrective Action.
Prior work with suppliers for audit and qualification purposes.
Expertise in DOE, SPC, Six Sigma, 5S, etc. methodologies.
Working knowledge of the following is required: Statistics and process control techniques, relevant industry regulations, such as ISO-9001:2015, AS9100, ESD controls, and IPC Workmanship Standards.
In-depth understanding of technical documentation.
Great attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Auditing experience preferred to assist with auditing systems based on ISO 9001:2015, etc. requirements.
Knowledge of relevant Department of Defense (DoD) test and acceptance processes and requirements.
Strong knowledge of calibration and ability to read drawings and blueprints.
Ability to read and understand Customer requirements.
Collaborative, able to work with diverse cross-functional teams.
Certification in Quality Assurance is a plus.
Lean Six Sigma Black Belt preferred.
Experience in SATCOM preferred.
Effective MS office skills, specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
Ability to travel 15%-25% ranging from a few days to a few weeks.
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.
Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Active Secret clearance OR had a Secret clearance within the last 2 years OR have the ability to obtain one.
