The City of Austin Transportation Department (ATD) is seeking an innovative Program Consultant to work in our Transportation Engineering Division. The Program Consultant will supervise program development for several high-profile initiatives in the Transportation Engineering Division for the Austin Transportation Department (ATD) in the areas of Vision Zero/Safety Improvement and Speed Management projects to advance safety, Transit Enhancement projects to advance transit speed and reliability, and mitigation projects collected from private developments to advance mobility and safety. These programs have associated funding utilizing multiple-year bond funds and other capital dollars to implement projects within mandated timelines. The Program Consultant will lead a team of Capital Improvement Program Managers and collaborate across multiple work groups, divisions, internal and external partners, and the community to provide key leadership so that projects can be developed and moved towards implementation. The ideal candidate will bring strong communication skills and wide-ranging technical experience and vision to shape all of the program areas.
The ideal candidate will be a versatile Program Consultant and bring the following preferred qualifications:
Proven professional experience in program, policy, engineering design principles, and data analyses.
Understanding of contracting methods and financial reports.
Experience in fiscal and resource planning, budgeting, forecasting, developing quality controls and process improvements to fast-track implementation of a variety of projects in a cost-effective manner.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Texas.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or related field plus five (5) years of related work experience including two (2) years as a project manager.
Nine (9) years of work experience in engineering, architecture or related area including two (2) years as a project manager.
