As an Enclosure Engineer at R. J. Kenney Associates, Inc., you will provide consulting and engineering services with emphasis on investigation of deteriorated structures, repair and rehabilitation, and new design of constructed works. This position supports our existing building rehabilitation services by conducting analyses, preparing drawings and specifications, researching technical issues, writing reports, conducting field visits, and performing construction administration activities. The ideal candidate is capable of leading the execution of both small and large projects in the new construction and building renovation sectors, as well as supervising and mentoring junior and/or less experienced department professionals.
Role and Responsibilities
Evaluate enclosure systems for roofing, fenestrations, air barriers, wall assemblies, and waterproofing.
Review project documents, including construction drawings and specifications, and provide recommendations relating to the building enclosure design and constructability. Provide comments on the proper interfacing of the various enclosure systems/components, ensuring a high performing enclosure and compliance with project requirements and building codes.
Review drawings and submittals for compliance with project requirements.
Perform condition assessments of existing buildings, gather and organize information collected from building investigations and prepare detailed, concise, technically accurate reports, including recommendations for corrective action.
Ability to lead and mentor drafting team generating technical project documents including drawing plans and specifications.
Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering, plus minimum of five years of relevant work experience in the building enclosure industry preferred.
Experience in the evaluation of building enclosures.
Current Professional Engineers License for Commonwealth of Massachusetts or be eligible for out-of-state license transfer preferred.
Ability to work successfully both independently and in a team-oriented environment.
Self-motivated and able to prioritize demands and manage time effectively.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCad, Revit, Bluebeam preferred.
Must be comfortable on ladders and scaffolding, in order to conduct building and roof inspections.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation.
