This is an intermediate technical office and field engineering position, with review and design responsibilities pertaining to public works and land use projects / permits, focused on surface water and streets. This position performs complex engineering duties, including making field measurements and/or observations and performing site inspections. Work is split between an office setting and being in the field under a variety of weather conditions. Field duties include oversight of projects to ensure that contractors are in compliance with approved project designs, schedules, and permit conditions. Office duties include complex computer work (which may include design and plan drafting), plan review, and customer service functions. This position may assist the Senior Engineer with preparing specifications and cost estimates related to the design of public works projects, and other tasks as assigned. This position requires a high degree of independent judgment, initiative and discretion.

Required A 2-year degree in civil engineering (or related field), and at least 2 years’ technical experience related to civil engineering design, drafting, and inspection. OR Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. AND The ability to obtain, and maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License throughout employment, and documentation to fulfill the requirements of the Immigration and Nationality Act within 3 days of employment. Preferred Registration as an Engineer-In-Training in the State of Washington. Include a copy or verification of any licenses, certificates, or related materials pertaining to your qualifications to the application submittal materials to be considered during the initial screening.
