Bridge and Dam Safety - Principal Engineering Technician

This position performs difficult, complex, and technical paraprofessional engineering duties, or directs a large number of engineering technicians or drafting technicians engaged in various technical engineering duties. Individual assignments determine the knowledge, skills and abilities required for each option. Work is performed under the supervision of a professional engineer, registered architect, or other supervisor who reviews work on the basis of results obtained and for compliance with standards and schedules. Currently there is one vacancy in the Bridge and Dam Safety Section of the Street Transportation Department. This position supervises the review and reporting of permit applications, and bridge and dam program database management. Duties include performing bridge and dam safety inspections; supervising multiple contractors performing bridge rehabilitation and dam restoration; coordinating and making recommendations for bridge repairs; and ensuring bridge inspections are compliance with regulatory agencies. This eligible list may be used by any department for any current or future vacancies over the life of the eligible list. RECRUITMENT DATES First review of applications will occur the week of December 17, 2018. Recruitment will close when we have received a sufficient number of qualified applications. SALARY $54,392 - $81,245 annually. Candidates may be hired above the minimum depending upon qualifications.
