Function: The Regional Sales Representative purpose is to negotiate the sale of intermodal shipping containers within a specified geographical region or customer base in accordance with corporate strategy to meet or exceed individual targets for revenue and volume, primarily in an inside sales capacity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Initiate and respond to opportunities to sell intermodal containers and other equipment to the existing customer base within a defined region through communication activities
Develop rapport with the existing customers to ensure their current needs are met and to increase market share in the future
Provide equipment availability and pricing information to qualified customers on a timely basis
Negotiate the sale of equipment and close business in accordance with corporate strategy to meet or exceed individual revenue and volume targets
Provide support to the Regional Marketing VP as directed to target new customers or to assist with the business development efforts
Provide management with timely, relevant updates on market conditions, customer interactions and competition
Follow guidelines for credit/ risk management and monitor bookings status to ensure invoices are paid on a timely basis and equipment is provided to the customer on time
Communicate clearly and collaborate with management, customers and other members of the team
Utilize technology efficiently, updating information, producing reports and providing research as needed
Understand the basic types and conditions of equipment to be offered for sale or lease purchase transactions
Generate and qualify leads through direct calling effort
Target customers based on industry customer lists, internet research and other resources and manage the customer relationship
Manage leads by tracking the calls and following up with potential customers on a periodic basis.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Inside sales experience with knowledge of the intermodal shipping container sale market and process preferred but willing to train candidate who shows exceptional potential
Strong existing relationships with wholesale customers or the ability to develop these relationships effectively and build customer loyalty
A goal-oriented person who values the opportunity to be rewarded for achievement. An outgoing personality with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task, manage time in a fast-paced environment
Ability to negotiate effectively and to close business
Ability to utilize Excel and to make optimal use of other tools and technology
