We are seeking a Director, Strategic Partnerships, Water to lead strategy in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships including with NGOs, investors and funders.
This position is designed for a highly motivated, experienced program manager looking to be an advocate for protecting water resources. The Director will play a pivotal role in Ceres’ efforts to leverage the power of institutional investors to drive corporate action to address the most severe and systemic risks to freshwater resources around the globe. This position will report to the Program Director, Water.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
Develop external partnership strategy (with a focus on the water and biodiversity space) enabling stronger collaborations with relevant stakeholders, funders and other organizations and exploring synergies with biodiversity-related stakeholders.
Develop, maintain, and expand relationships with external partners and key allies, such as non-profits, think tanks, trade associations, funders, funder networks, and investors.
In close collaboration with the Director of Investor Engagement, administer the governing body of the Valuing Water Finance Initiative, including leading on regular communications with members and organizing periodic group meetings.
Work in partnership with the Program Director to identify and develop new thought-leadership collaborations with stakeholders.
Supervise staff members including hiring and training new staff, conducting regular one-on-one meetings and semi-annual reviews, providing guidance and support with professional development.
Provide strategy, thought-leadership, and communications support.
Work in partnership with the Program Director and the Development team to develop new funder relationships.
Manage team planning for the Ceres annual conference program and other events and group meetings to educate and engage stakeholders.
Travel to meetings and events, including international travel, as required.
Coordinate with other Ceres program teams (e.g. Climate & Energy, Food & Forests, Investor Network, Company Network,) as needed to accomplish organizational objectives.
Support team in training new staff or providing professional development to team members.
Assure that programmatic strategies maximize the impacts of our work through a lens of social and racial equity.
Ten or more years of relevant program management experience in the corporate sustainability sector.
Prior experience in an NGO or working in partnership with NGOs to progress corporate sustainability.
Strong relationship management skills.
Demonstrated facilitation skills.
Experience in strategy development and implementation.
Excellent written, presentation, and speaking skills
Experience cultivating effective and productive supervisory relationships with direct reports across gender identity, race, ethnicity, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Proficient with word-processing, spreadsheet, presentation, database, and e-mail computer applications
