Position Summary: The Industrial Technology (INDT) Program Director oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of the INDT degree program including mentoring faculty, faculty evaluations, course scheduling, working with faculty on teaching load, hiring instructors, preparing and maintaining accreditation materials, working with College and Idaho Falls Center administration, determining education needs of local and state-wide industries, developing new courses as needed, coordinating local community events, work with the INDT advisory board, and controlling INDT activities. The director will also teach one to two courses per semester. This position will be hired as Associate or Professor rank dependent on experience. This position will work closely with College of Eastern Idaho, with a potential joint appointment between the two institutions. The University of Idaho invites applications for a position as an Industrial Technology professor. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to research and teaching in Industrial Technology and support the Industrial technology BS and Technology Management MS degree. The candidate is expected to teach Industrial Technology courses at the direction of the Associate Dean; Advise students within the academic programs; participate in research projects; serve on graduate student committees, engage in outreach activities, and act as expert adviser to faculty members or groups. The Director will play an active role in the program by identifying instructional needs in consultation with and resident faculty at the Idaho Falls Center. A 15% administrative increment has been added to the salary for this position. Job responsibilities are listed below but not limited to these tasks
Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization.
Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program.
Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and to identify areas for improvement.
Develop funding proposals for the program to ensure the continuous delivery of services.
Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization.
In consultation with the Associate Dean, recruit, interview and select well-qualified course instructors.
Provide input for annual evaluations of faculty.
Engage faculty volunteers for appropriate program activities using. established volunteer management practices
Work with student groups.
Supervise faculty and instructors by providing direction, input and feedback.
Communicate with the advisory board and stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program.
Liaise with other degree program directors to ensure the effective and efficient program delivery.
Provide monthly updates to the Associate Dean and Idaho Falls Center CEO.
Ensure accreditation standards are met and documentation is retained.
- Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering or related field by time of hire. - Documented experience in Industrial Technology. - Ability to engage and teach students at the undergraduate and graduate level - Understanding of academia in regards to advising students - If applicable, the candidate should be a professional engineer in Idaho or must become registered within five years of the initial appointment.
- Ability to work with collaborating entities - Experience with accreditation process - Understanding of the Idaho National Laboratory and its facilities.
