We are seeking an experienced traffic engineer with a strong background in signal design and operations who would receive job satisfaction by utilizing his/her expertise in:
Responding to citizens’ safety concerns in our community.
Researching, analyzing and preparing oral and written recommendations on issues such as signal warrants, signal design, timing and maintenance.
Operating a Traffic Management Center.
Designing and implementing ITS projects.
Staying cognizant of and implementing current state and federal safety regulations and mandates relating to transportation, signals and ITS.
Maintaining and applying knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Design Standards for Design, Construction, Maintenance and Utility Operations on the State Highway System.
Guiding his/her team of fifteen people, composed primarily of engineers and technicians, in designing and overseeing the construction of intersection improvements; designing sidewalks; placing, designing and timing signals; ITS deployments; and locates.
Selecting, training, supervising, evaluating and counseling his/her teamand working with staff to correct deficiencies.
A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering or a related field.
Nine (9) years of progressively responsible experience and/or training that includes project management, civil engineering, engineering design, construction supervision, budget administration, contract administration, computer-aided design (CAD) operations in a transportation engineering or traffic engineering environment.
A valid State of Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license (or the ability to obtain one within six (6) months of hire).
A Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (P.T.O.E.).
Experience in the use of AutoCAD, MicroStation and traffic modeling software.
Basic roadway and drainage design experience.
Additional Salary Information: Hiring rate is expected at the base salary or up to 10%.
