This position will support sales and business development of the OEM, Modernizations, Repair, Spare Parts and Field Service businesses in relation to open and closed die forging equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
-Maintains a strong relationship with existing customers and develops relationships with new forging industry customers. Regular customer visits are necessary for successful business development efforts.
-Supports forging equipment including spare parts, equipment reconditioning, new equipment manufacturing demands, and the field service business.
-Provides on-site technical assistance and expertise to customers as it relates to forging line equipment.
-Works closely with managers and engineers as a technical resource on forging equipment.
-Works directly with the Product Manager – Forging and Vice President to expand the technical support business customer base.
-Provides on-site project and field service oversight, and manages customer expectations with an emphasis on sales and business development.
-Develops plans to acquire additional business opportunities and promote product growth.
-Interaction with customers on-site, both commercial and technical nature, will be required.
-Requires frequent travel (approximately 65%) to NAFTA market established and new accounts.
-Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field is preferred. An additional 5 years of technical experience can be substituted in lieu of degree.
-Broad knowledge and experience in the forging industry.
-Required knowledge level can be reasonably attained after 5+ years’ applicable industry experience.
-Experience with heavy industrial equipment is required.
-Requires strong working knowledge of forging equipment maintenance, operations, and engineering.
-Demonstrated prior success in achieving sales results using team driven philosophies.
-Demonstrated proficiency in supporting the corporate interest from remote site locations.
-A strong desire to develop the business segments mentioned above, and to represent SMS Technical Services in the forging field.
-Excellent communication skills and sales acumen.
-CAD experience is a plus.
