Under the direction of the Director of Operations, the Quality Assurance Manager is responsible to develop short and long range plans for, and manage the activities of engineers and technicians engaged in developing, evaluating and improving processes and systems in order to ensure compliance with customer and internal quality standards, and to develop and maintain positive and proactive relationships with customers, ensuring mutually beneficial and collaborative processes for maintaining product quality at competitive cost in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Objectives & Measurement - Key Responsibilities
Including but not limited to:
Develop short and long range plans to improve the effectiveness of systems and processes while ensuring compliance with customer and internal quality standards, and to identify and resolve systematic and incidental quality problems.
Select, train, provide leadership and work assignments for, counsel and evaluate the performance of quality engineers and technicians engaged in developing, analyzing, modifying, and improving quality assurance systems and procedures to ensure the continuing ability of the Company to produce quality products to meet customer delivery commitments.
Develop and implement systematic and effective processes to investigate and resolve customer complaints and problems, and to ensure mutually beneficial and collaborative actions to maintain product quality.
Participate in planning and implementing changes in production methods, tooling and equipment, space allocations, workforce utilization, production schedules, and other factors required to maintain or improve compliance with quality standards of existing products and to establish initial and continuing compliance with quality standards for new and/or redesigned products.
Develop and implement systematic and effective processes to monitor quality of offshore and domestic suppliers.
Develop and document standard operating policies and procedures and changes in policies and procedures to ensure effective evaluation and analysis of processes, components, materials, goods in process and final products for compliance with quality standards and identification of random and systematic quality problems.
Develop and manage the implementation of policies, procedures, and systems to support the maintenance of ISO 9001 accreditation.
Direct the design, development, maintenance and modification of quality assurance data systems.
Plan, develop and implement systems and procedures to ensure effective interactions with suppliers and customers to establish and maintain consistent quality standards.
Maintain timely and effective communication with employees, in order to provide positive feedback to motivate good performance, ensure that all employees have current and accurate information required for proper job performance, and have access to training and development opportunities.
Analyze, evaluate and develop efficient engineering solutions to resolve identified quality problems.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and provide effective support for customers.
Assist the Director of Operations in developing plans and policies to continuously improve manufacturing processes and increase product quality and delivery while reducing production costs.
Some travel required.
Complete special projects as assigned.
Comply with all Operations Department and Company policies, procedures, and programs.
Ensure compliance with all safety and work rules and regulations. Ensure the maintenance of departmental housekeeping standards.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, engineering technology, manufacturing administration or other relevant discipline combined with 6 to 8 years experience in quality engineering, including at least 5 years of management experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Requires a valid driver’s license.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
Thorough working knowledge of: 8D problem-solving, manufacturing organization, including JIT (Just-In-Time) manufacturing theory, TPS (Toyota Production System) and TQM (Total Quality Management); theoretical and applied statistical analysis, with particular emphasis on probability theory, analysis of variance and hypothesis testing; sample design and sampling procedures; theoretical and applied principles of electrical, electronic and/or mechanical engineering; principles and practices of manufacturing and/or process engineering; inspection, measurement and testing protocols and procedures; quality testing equipment and instrumentation; and ISO 9001 requirements, processes and procedures. Thorough knowledge of, and ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, technical drawings, schematics and work manuals. Proficiency in using statistical and database applications software in mainframe, client-server and PC based computing platforms. Knowledge of budget planning and control principles and practices. Green or Black Belt preferred.
