The Indianapolis office of Cornerstone Engineering (CEI) has an exciting opportunity for a mid-level Structural Engineer (5-10 years experience). The position is responsible for structural design and project management for public and private sector projects and clients. Services include building design, bridge design and other infrastructure design for new and existing structures. The job will include active participation in the planning, design, coordination, execution, and inspection of structural projects. Applicants must be self-motivated, with the ability to manage the technical details involved with structural design and the ability to produce work on a timely basis in order to meet client expectations and deadlines. The successful candidate will be provided the opportunity to be part of a growing consulting business with clients in Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.
Provide project management services for projects assigned.
Perform structural design using various structural engineering software programs.
Prepare structural calculations and details of structural elements for various materials (steel, concrete, wood).
Develop structural specifications, design basis, scope of work and proposals.
Conduct field special inspections of structural projects and prepare written inspection reports.
Perform design reviews, risk assessments, and vendor bid evaluations.
Perform construction support activities including responses to requests for information (RFIs), shop drawing and other submittal reviews, construction site visits, and design revisions/management of change.
Assist the technicians/drafters in preparing plans, using current drafting and design software.
Coordinate design requirements between engineering disciplines.
Assist in development and presentation of proposals, schedules and budgets.
Apply industry standards and national, state, local building codes for all work performed.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis (ABET Accredited).
Indiana Licensed Civil or Structural Engineer (or ability to obtain in 6 months through Reciprocity).
5 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering design, and a comprehensive knowledge of structural design standards and codes.
Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with structural analysis and design software (STAAD, RISA-3D, RAM Elements, ETABS, SAFE, AutoCAD, and/or Microstation).
