Duties & Responsibilities: * Administer construction contracts: * Ensure contract deliverables are completed on time and according to specifications. * Monitor vendor compliance with environmental permits. * Review staging plans and traffic control plans for compliance with restrictions. * Approve monthly contractor/vendor progress payments. * Negotiate and approve contract changes. * Conduct site visits and perform field inspections. * Manage the project for the safety of all project personnel and members of the public. * Hold meetings with contractors, consultants, and/or multiple stakeholders.
* Supervise a staff of engineers, technicians, surveyors, inspectors and clerical personnel who assist in the PM's role as the contract administrator of construction and consultant services contracts. * Act as a member of ODOT management teams at the area, region, and statewide levels. * Function as one of the organizational experts in the management of construction and consultant design contracts in the area of contract interpretation and claims management. Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills: Minimum Qualifications: A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering and three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience. Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.
Special Qualifications: Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s).
Preferred Attributes: We may show preference to candidates whose application materials demonstrate the following.* Multiple years of technical expertise in applying engineering principles and practical design to construction projects. * Experience managing multiple complex projects and contracts at the same time, including scheduling and budgeting. * Experience in supervising construction staff. * Experience resolving conflicts and negotiating solutions between people with diverse perspectives. * Experience working with local jurisdictions, government agencies, and the public.
Working Conditions: * Requires frequent travel to construction sites. * Exposure to traffic and construction hazards and inclement weather. * On-call all hours for emergencies.
